AFR 2-6: Theodore H. Andress

THEODORE H. ANDRESS, son of Peter, was born 26 Aug. 1835. He enlisted 03 Sept. 1862 into Company G, of the 31st New Jersey Infantry. The 31st defended Washington D.C. until moving into Virginia in Jan. of 1863. Theodore was promoted to the rank of sergeant 20 Feb. 1863. Attached to the First Corps, of the Army of the Potomac, the 31st participated in the campaign and battle of Chancellorsville, VA., in April and May. Sgt. Andress died of fever near Falmouth, VA., 03 June 1863, just twenty-one days before the regiment mustered out of service and went home. Theodore is buried in Marksboro Presbyterian Churchyard.

Theodore married Margaret Mackey ca. 1861. She was born ca. 1839, the daughter of William and Hanna Mackey.

Theodore and Margaret Andress had one child:

I. WILLIAM M. ANDRESS, born ca. 1863. Between 1870 and 1880 William moved to Metamora, Michigan. He married Edith Lutey, 09 Dec. 1881. The daughter of Samuel and Rebecca Lutey, she was born 22 Aug. 1859 and she died in Metamora, 08 Jan 1941. William died 16 Dec. 1924. They had one child: Harry J. Andress, born 14 May 1884.
